If you have driven anywhere near Chattanooga, you have seen the hundreds of signs telling you to “See Rock City”. This was not an item on my original itinerary but I’m so happy that it was added. Overwhelmed with all of the planning involved with the overall trip, I told my parents to plan out our days in the Smokies. My Dad remembered visiting Lookout Mountain as a kid on a family vacation and we realized that it was a short drive from the RV park in Chattanooga. I requested a late departure time from the RV park and we set out to see Rock City before hitching up and heading to the Smokies.

I wasn’t sure if my Mom was going to survive the drive up the mountain and I was happy to be a passenger and not driving a truck or camper up there. I had low expectations as I expected a cheesy tourist trap. I was wrong. It was a magical fairyland. You wandered along a stone path and bridges through gardens, tunnels, caves, and overlooks. The claim to fame at the overlook is that you can lookout to see seven different US states. If you are in the area, I recommend adding to your list of things to see. We jumped back in the car, headed back to the RV park, hitched up the trailer, and we were off to the Smokies.
